Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in The Tourist

On the back of the success of Salt, Angelina Jolie stars in slick European comedy crime capper 'The Tourist' with Johnny Depp.

The movie sees Jolie play yet another femme fatale (yawn) Elise who beguiles Depp's character, Frank, as he travels around Italy trying to mend a broken heart. The two meet on a train where we soon discover that Frank is being used to mislead agents who are pursuing her former lover, a wanted man in fourteen countries. The two begin a romance but Frank soon finds himself in a thrilling and dangerous web of intrigue as his new lover is not all that she appears.Directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, the movie nearly failed to get off the ground after some cast and crew issues, in which Avatar star Sam Worthington was initially pitched as Johnny Depp's character. However, after 'creative differences' both lead Worthington and director von Donnersmarck walked away from the project until Depp replaced the Avatar star and von Donnersmarck made a return.

The movie is billed as ultimately a love story, but it is also a comedy thriller that is sure to attract both Jolie and Depp fans alike. 'The Tourist' is set for release 10 December in the USA.
